What a hotel module store actually sells (and what it does not)
“Module store” sounds grander than the reality — and the reality is more useful. Here is exactly what the category contains, in plain English.
Licences, not software installs
When you buy a module here, you are buying a monthly licence to a hosted service that already exists. There is nothing to install on your machines, no server to provision, no IT project. The module runs in the cloud, talks to your PMS environment through the official PMS vendor API, and you manage it from a web client area. Cancelling means the service stops at month end — you are not left with orphaned software to uninstall.
The API key is the whole handshake
Every module connects with a scoped credential you generate inside your own PMS settings. Scoped means the key carries only the permissions that module needs — a dashboard key can read but never write, a rate-optimiser key can write rates but only after your approval. We never ask for your PMS login, and revoking the key cuts our access instantly. If a vendor ever asks for your PMS password, that is your signal to walk away.
What modules do not do
They do not replace your PMS vendor contract, your PMS subscription, or any native PMS vendor module you already license. They sit beside all of that and extend it — a booking widget gives your own website a checkout your guests can book through; a parity watchdog watches prices your PMS does not watch; an analytics dashboard adds forecasting to PMS reporting. The PMS core remains the system of record for every reservation.
How to evaluate a module vendor
Three questions separate serious vendors from the rest. First: do they connect through the official API with scoped keys, or do they ask for credentials? Second: can they show a written data-processing agreement and a retention schedule? Third: what happens when the platform vendor ships a release — do they regression-test, and how fast? The answers are usually visible before you pay anything: in the documentation, the legal pages, and the honesty of the sales conversation.
Everything we sell at HotelSolutionsMod follows the model above: monthly licences, scoped-key connection, month-end cancellation. If you want to see it working before committing, the pilot pack gives you a supervised two-week evaluation on one property.
